Assist

Since its beginning nearly 20 years ago, The Minnesota Land Trust has helped communities implement their land and water protection goals. We have provided the knowledge, tools and technical assistance to encourage land conservation across Minnesota and expand the state’s overall capacity to deliver conservation. We have helped more than 25 communities secure public parkland, build better developments and protect their water resources. In addition, we have helped state and federal agencies and non-profit partners solve problems, implement programs and permanently protect key tracts of land.

What type of assistance have we provided? We have helped in identifying conservation priorities through community planning and assisted in creating environmentally-sensitive ordinances. We have helped create conservation developments and hold conservation easements in more than 30 developments around the state. We have helped several counties develop conservation programs and finally, we have helped implement these programs or assisted in specific transactions which have met community objectives.

Below is a short list of communities, counties and other entities we have helped throughout the years:

  • Red Wing
  • Duluth
  • Maplewood
  • Lake Elmo
  • Washington County
  • Hennepin County
  • Department of Natural Resources
  • Encampment Forest Association
  • Stearns County
  • Sherburne County
  • Scott County
  • Dakota County
  • Cass County
  • Medina
  • St. Joseph
  • Scandia
  • Winona
  • Grand Marais
  • Lino Lakes
  • And many more. . .

But we know there is much more to do and intend to expand our ability to be an effective partner in the future. Our local offices will continue to look for opportunities to assist others in the conservation pursuits.
