Regional Conservation Director (Northern Region)

Francis "Fitz" Fitzgerald joined the Land Trust staff in December 2003 and serves as the Northern Regional Conservation Director.  Fitz most recently worked for The Nature Conservancy in Mosca, Colorado where he was the project director of the San Luis Valley project and general manager of the Conservancy’s Zapata Ranch.  Prior to his work with the Conservancy, Fitz was a licensed real estate broker in northern Minnesota where he specialized in residential, commercial, recreational and wilderness properties.  Fitz is also an experienced lodge owner/operator, having successfully owned and operated a 17-cabin resort near the BWCAW in northeast Minnesota, and a partner in a contracting firm for 16 years in Rochester.  Fitz graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a B.S. in Wildlife and Natural Resources after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
