We're making our lists, and checking them twice!

Mr. Jones' property was monitored recently. ‘Tis the season…for finishing up monitoring visits! Each year, every single property that’s protected with a conservation easement held by the Minnesota Land Trust is visited. The majority of these visits are done by our amazing group of trained and certified volunteers.


Dozens of these volunteers attend training in the late spring, and then take to Minnesota’s woods, prairies, river bluffs and shorelines to make sure that the terms of each individual easement are being followed.

Just in the nick of time!

We’re thrilled to report our application for a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant (part of the Outdoor Heritage Fund) to purchase an easement on 60 acres of upland northern hardwoods and over 1,200 feet of shoreline on Mille Lacs Lake has been approved!

The property is just west of Father Hennepin State Park and the undeveloped shoreline sits on the east side of a small bay recognized by DNR and other partners as some of the highest quality muskie spawning habitat on Mille Lacs.
