Helping to Keep Duluth Green

We just got word today that the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation has approved a $10,000 grant from the Community Opportunity Fund for Minnesota Land Trust work on its "Advancing Duluth's Greenspace Network." This grant will help continue our work with the City of Duluth as it determines what greenspace/openspace is essential to the city and how it should be protected. With more than 10,000 acres of public green space, Duluth is among the cities with the most greenspace per capita in the country, including places like Missoula, Bellingham and Fort Collins.

Protecting nature nearby - Valley Creek project in Afton

Valley CreekWe are thrilled to announce another great land protection success -- this time is an important watershed just 20 minutes east of downtown St. Paul.  Working with the Belwin Conservancy and private landowners, we've protected a 49-acre property along Valley Creek in Afton.  The property is now protected by a conservation easement, co-held by the both MLT and Belwin, and protects over 2,000 feet of Valley Creek shoreline including essential spawning grounds relied upon by three self-sustaining populations of trout.
