This 165-acre easement in Ford Township, Kanabec County is notable for its size and for its contribution to a larger habitat corridor. 

The land, which is mostly forest, lies along the Snake River and is adjacent to another 1500 acres of forest owned by the State.  In addition, the Snake River State Forest is just a quarter-mile away.  The large size of this parcel, especially since it is adjacent to so much other similar forest, provides good-quality habitat for forest-interior species like warblers, thrushes, and the red-shouldered hawk.  Ruffed grouse, woodcock, bear, porcupine and wolves have all been seen here.

	Canoeists on the Snake River (a DNR designated canoe route) will appreciate this lovely view, as will motorists crossing the Olympic Street Bridge.
